A Prayer for Owen Meany
John Irving
Your comments
Owen Meany had its moments. It was darkly comedic and entertaining
at times. It also holds your attention through all 600 pages.
But did anyone else feel like the were reading a Nancy Drew
novel? I found the ending to be anti-climatic, and it was
all just a little too 'convenient' for me. As you are reading
Owen Meany, you almost wish it were a true story, although
it is a little far-fetched. All things considered, I still
recommend reading it.
John Irving is good at creating people and events that are
as real as pinching yourself but this book touch on any subjects
that affect real people today. I don't think so. Read it for
the storytelling but don't expect to be moved like his other
works and don't expect to miss the characters like his other
works.
